According to TMZ, the former convict is going after April Johns in a new lawsuit. She alleged Johns committed fraud, as well as breach of contract, unjust enrichment, defamation, and false light.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard stated in her court documents that Johns presented herself as Franchesca Macelli when they met in 2017. Gypsy’s father Rod and stepmother Kristy were approached by “Macelli” for a potential media collaboration after Gypsy was sentenced for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Gypsy alleged in her claim that Johns as Macelli said she’d produce projects surrounding Gypsy’s story. The projects would make the Blanchard family a lot of money. Believing the woman, Gypsy signed a life rights agreement with her.
The agreement stated, “Obtain a one-year option, renewable for an additional year, for the life rights to Gypsy’s story and set out parameters for payment of ‘Net Profits’ upon the production of said media projects.”
She told her everything about her life for two years. Among the items that Gypsy Rose Blanchard gave Johns were medical records, police videos, court transcripts, and crime scene photos from Dee Dee’s murder.
However, Gypsy claimed that the projects never happened. The Blanchard family decided to cut ties with “Marcelli” and that was when things turned ugly between the two parties.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Asks for Emergency Restraining Order Against Blogger
Gypsy Rose further stated in the lawsuit that the conflict between her and Johns started after a confrontation over Gypsy’s relationship with Ken Urker. This was in 2019 while she and Urker were engaged.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard stated that Johns started to criticize her and her parents online heavily. She also made up false stories meant to defame the family.
Gypsy alleged the criticism turned into a hate campaign against her and her loved ones. At one point, Macelli allegedly posted some confidential information that Gyspy and her family provided. That included her medical records.
“Over the next three and half years, Franchesca/April continued to create content about Gypsy’s case,” the suit stated. “These came in the form of posts, comments, videos, podcasts, interviews, etc. on numerous social media and streaming platforms.”
The lawsuit further alleged that the blogger used “internet and social media platforms including, but not limited to, TikTok, Instagram, Patreon, YouTube, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger” to “create ‘true crime’ content” about Blanchard.
Johns also allegedly hinted that Gypsy had been lying/misleading the public about what really happened while she was living with her abusive mother.
As part of the lawsuit, Gypsy Rose Blanchard asks for an emergency restraining order against Johns. Gyspy stated that after she and her family cut ties, Johns continued to harass and obsess about talking to her.
