George Lopez is one of the most successful comedians to hit Hollywood. He has appeared in several hit productions such as Marmaduke, The Spy Next Door, and Balls of Fury.
He has also been doing standup comedy for literal decades. So you can expect that Lopez has dealt with a heckler or two throughout his career…
George Lopez Exits Stage After Altercation
But one heckler got the best of Lopez during a recent set in California at the Eagle Mountain Casino.
“I seem like an a**hole? I’m the one working here,” Lopez said in a video of the incident obtained by TMZ.
“Just f**king watch the show. That’s all you have to do. You don’t even have to laugh if you don’t want to. I don’t give a f**k. Just relax, man, f**k. Seriously.”
Things got so unruly between Lopez and the heckler, that the comedian ended his set early and exited the stage.
Comedian’s Rep Speaks Out After Incident
In a statement from a rep for George Lopez, he points the finger at the casino for allowing things to get so out of hand.
“It’s the venue or casino’s job to provide a good experience for both the artist and the fans, but the casino failed in this regard,” the rep said, referring to the incident.
“The audience was overserved and unruly, and the casino staff was unable to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the artist and guests.”
The rep for Lopez also added that the comedian’s personal security team did everything they could to de-escalate the situation. Including wanting to remove the individuals who were being disruptive during Lopez’s set.
However, they noted that the security at Eagle Mountain Casino was “not adequate,” enough to successfully do so. So instead, Lopez elected to remove himself from the situation.
“George’s personal security team worked with the venue security staff to maintain order, ensure safety, and eject disruptive individuals,” the rep added.
“Unfortunately, the casino security team was not adequate to accomplish this task. George is not obligated to perform in an unsafe environment. He feels badly that those who came to see the show were unable to do so as a result.”
