Putting his fans first, Chris Martin gave a 64-year-old admirer struggling to walk a ride to the Coldplay performance at Luton’s Stockwood Park in England on Sunday, May 26. The show was part of Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

The fan caught the exchange between them and the Coldplay frontman on video. They then posted the scene on X (formerly Twitter).
“That moment when Chris Martin @Coldplay saw me struggling to walk, had his car stop and gave me a lift,” the fan, Saundra Glenn, wrote. “Blooming amazing. Can’t believe this happened. What a decent bloke. We had a nice chat too.”
Following the concert, Glenn spoke to BBC about her interaction with Martin. She revealed that due to her osteoarthritis and a “dodgy right hip,” she was struggling to get to the accessibility box office.
Glenn admitted that the struggle almost caused her to go home and watch the performance on TV. “But I thought I loved Coldplay and never thought I’d never get another chance to see them in my home town.”
However, her luck turned around when a black Mercedes pulled up alongside her and a woman asked her to get inside so they could give her a ride to the show. “The door opens and I said, ‘Oh that’s Chris Martin, I can’t get in with him’” Glenn recalled. “And they said ‘Yes you can’.”
She sat next to the singer as they drove to the venue. However, her adventure wasn’t quite over yet.
“When we got to the artist area, he didn’t leave me there, he said ‘Get the golf buggy and make sure Saundra reaches her destination,’” she pointed out. “It’s the fact he’s conscious of disability, he’s such a kind person.”
Fan Jokes With Chris Martin About Wanting to Skip the Coldplay Performance After He Gave Her a Ride
Continuing to reflect on her exchange with Chris Martin, Saundra Glenn told him that she was ready to go home after he gave her a lift to the venue where Coldplay was getting ready to perform at.
“I’m 64 Chris, I don’t do festivals,” she further recalled telling him, which made the singer laugh. “I’ve come just to see you and now I’ve seen you and I can go home.”
Glenn also said that she asked Chris Martin about the BBC Three Counties Radio campaign to change the lyrics of Yellow to Orange. He promised her that was a “good surprise.”
Although Coldplay didn’t rework the song, they did perform a new song, Orange. The track was written by Martin and was to honor Luton and its football club.
Glenn went on to add, “I met Chris Martin and had a conversation with him and he’s such a nice man! He gave me an act of kindness that I’ll forever be grateful for, and he’s given Luton its cool back, thank you.”
