Taylor and Travis began dating before Taylor announced the release of TTPD. However, she revealed that she’s been working on the album — and her surprise double album — for the past two years.
“I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.”
Taylor recently went through a major breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. As a result, many fans believed the new songs would mostly be about him. After all, the two dated for six years.
However, fans were shocked to hear there were also a few songs allegedly about Matt Healy. Taylor dated Matt briefly just after her split from Joe.
This begs the question: how recently did Taylor write some of these songs?
It appears to be as recent as her and Travis’s new romance.
Taylor Swift Included Songs About Travis Kelce on Her New Album
According to Taylor, her album is “an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”
However, despite how heartbreaking many of her songs are, there are a few positive love songs that are clearly about Travis. Namely, “The Alchemy” and “So High School” seem to paint the picture of Taylor and Travis’s ongoing romance.
For example, Taylor includes football references in her lyrics in “The Alchemy,” which is likely about her football star boyfriend.
“So when I touchdown, call the amateurs and cut them from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown / Baby I’m the one to beat,” she sings, “Because the sign on your heart said it’s still reserved for me / Honestly, who are we to fight The Alchemy?”
She even hints at her boyfriend’s recent Super Bowl LVIII win back in February. “Shirts off and your friends lift you up over their heads / Beer sticking to the floor / Cheers chanting ‘cause they said there was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league, where’s the trophy?”
Many fans have also referenced that Travis and Taylor’s relationship is like a high school romance. In her song, “So High School,” she sings, “I’m watchin’ American Pie with you on a Saturday night / Your friends are around, so be quiet / I’m trying to stifle my sighs / ‘Cause I feel so high school every time I look at you / But look at you.”
Whatever the case, Swifties are just glad to get a few happy songs from Tay!
