Despite his recent legal situation with Taylor Swift, Jack Sweeney isn’t backing down from tracking the pop icon’s private jet.

The University of Central Florida student recently announced that Swift flew 178,000 miles last year. He released all of Swift’s flight logs from 2023. Although he didn’t count how many flights there were, he was told it was more than 170.
Sweeney’s video pointed out that Taylor Swift’s two private jets flew 178,000 miles in 2023, which is equivalent to flight around the earth seven times. The flights emitted 1200 tons of CO2, which is 83 times the average American emits.
The video further shows where the flights departed and landed as well. Sweeney then quoted Swift by stating, “Jet lag is a choice.” This is a reference to the comment she made after she flew from Tokyo to Las Vegas to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce to play in Super Bowl LVIII.
The video comes less than six months after Taylor Swift sent Sweeney a cease and desist letter claiming he was assisting stalkers by sharing her private jet logs.
“While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client,” Swift’s legal team stated in the letter.
“Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm since she was a teenager… the reality has forced our Client to live her life in a constant state of fear for her personal safety.”
Jack Sweeney Says He Hasn’t Heard From Taylor Swift Since the Cease and Desist Letter
According to The Sun, Sweeney hasn’t heard from Taylor Swift’s legal team since the cease and desist letter. However, her team did get his dedicated Swift Jets Instagram shut down and he is unable to reopen the account.
Sweeney previously dealt with legal pressure from Elon Musk, who publicly called him out for tracking his jet on X. Musk had also offered Sweeney $5,000 to stop the tracking, but Sweeney refused.
“Nothing [has happened,” Sweeney said while talking about Taylor Swift. “I’m not really surprised. It’s pretty much like with Elon, you know, they’ll say something to intimidate the smaller person. It’s the attention they’re getting that they don’t like. I like it – that it brings awareness.”
Sweeney pointed out that exposing celebrity jet uses shouldn’t be seen as a “competition.” He claimed that Swift isn’t even in the top 10 when it comes to extensive jet use among celebrities.
The top three celebrities who have the most jet uses are Travis Scott, Kim Kardashian, and Elon Musk. “There’s so many people, it’s not really a competition for who’s the biggest polluter,” Sweeney said.
“The one jet [of Taylor’s] that is used is maybe every couple of weeks now just between Tennessee and California. Since the new year, she’s not always used the jet for tour dates.”
“It could be that reason [of negative publicity],” Sweeney added. “Or it could be that the character jet is nicer, a bit faster, and can go further.”
Taylor Swift sold one of her jets earlier this year.
