O.J. Simpson’s Bank of America credit card was just auctioned off. The owner of the card scored a big payday in the process.
Simpson, who passed away on April 10, owned the card recently. The expiration date on the card was January 2023. Despite only paying $70 for it on eBay last summer, the owner of the card sold it via an auction for $10,675.
O.J. Simpson Credit Card Owner Didn’t Always Plan to Sell
The owner of O.J. Simpson’s credit card, Jonathan Lepore, didn’t always want to sell it. In fact, he wanted to gift it away instead.
Lepore told TMZ that his initial plan was to gift the card to a friend’s day. Allegedly this friend’s dad used to hang out with Simpson, and his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, in the Hamptons back in the 80s and 90s.
Lepore hadn’t seen his friend’s dad in quite some time and forgot he even owned the card. Then, Simspon passed away, jogging Lepore’s memory. He decided now was a good time to get rid of the card and make some money in the process.
Perhaps the only happy ending to this story, Lepore is sharing some of his earnings with a good cause. He’s donating 10% of the proceeds to the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
