The late NFL player passed away on April 10 at the age of 76.
According to O.J. Simpson’s estate executor, Malcolm LaVergne, the certificate was issued by Nevada’s Clark County. It confirms the cause of death was prostate cancer. LaVergne pointed out that no other causes were listed.
Although his children announced they were present at the time of his death, O.J. reportedly died with only one person by his side. LaVergne confirmed this and avoided questions about Simpson making any deathbed confessions.
Many speculated the late disgraced athlete may have admitted to murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. Although he was charged with the murders, Simpson was acquitted during what was dubbed the “Trial of the Century” in 1995.
However, despite the not-guilty verdict, there have been speculations that Simpson was responsible for the deaths. He never admitted to being involved in Brown and Goldman’s death, but years later, he wrote a hypothetical book about how he would have murdered the two.
Lifetime to Air New Docuseries ‘The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson’ in June
On the same day that O.J. Simpson’s death was announced, Lifetime revealed it would be releasing a docuseries called The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new docuseries has been in the works for over a year. It is centered around Nicole Brown’s story and will be released days before the 30th anniversary of her well-known murder.
The media outlet reported that more than 50 people from Brown’s life participated in the docuseries. Among those appearing in the special are Brown’s sisters as well as close friends and family members.
The docuseries is said to include exclusive archival video and “unprecedented” family access. It will premiere on June 1st on Lifetime.
Nicole Brown married O.J. Simpson in 1985. The former couple shared two children, Sydney and Justin. Following a series of abusive incidents, Brown filed for divorce in 1992.
On June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally murdered outside of Brown’s Brentwood neighborhood condo. After being considered a person of interest, O.J. Simpson raised eyebrows by being involved in a low-speed police chase through the L.A. metro. After being arrested, he was charged.
Although he was acquitted in his criminal trial, Simpson was later found liable during the civil trial brought on by the Brown and Goldman families. He was ordered to pay the grieving families $33.5 million. However, he never paid the entire amount.
