While speaking to E! News at CMA Fest 2024’s Spotify House at Ole Red in Nashville this weekend, Bryan named dropped who he would be interested in working with on the show.
“We’re waiting to hear who the show is going to pick,” Luke Bryan said about the American Idol judge replacement. “I know that Pink, her name was thrown around, Miley Cyrus.”
The media outlet also reported that Meghan Trainor has expressed some interest in working on American Idol with Luke Bryan and fellow judge Lionel Richie.
“The whole thing about that role is you gotta have personality and you gotta have fun with it every day,” Bryan said about Trainor. “And I think Meghan has fun with her career, she’s kind of like me. She doesn’t take herself too serious, she has fun with her music. So, yeah, that’d be great.”
Bryan further pointed out that regardless of who American Idol picks, he’s ready to welcome them. “I’ll support her or whoever all the people at ABC decide to go with,” he concluded. “And it’ll be exciting to see who they decide to fill Katy’s seat.”
Katy Perry Is Planning to Tour Following ‘American idol’ Departure
Katy Perry announced earlier this year that she was planning to step down from her judge role on American Idol.
“This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio… so I think this will probably be my last season for ‘Idol,’” Perry said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at the time.
Speaking about American Idol and what it means to her, Perry declared, “I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”
Katy Perry joined the judge’s panel on American Idol in 2018 following the show’s revival on ABC. The show was previously on Fox from 2002 to 2016.
Although Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie did not know she was leaving American Idol, Katy Perry pointed out that they were aware that some big changes were coming. They also knew she had “some things planned for this year,” Perry further shared. “So it’s going to be a very, very exciting year … for all popstar girlies!” she added.
