Kiernan Shipka, the 20-year-old star of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has ideas on how to win Shawn Mendes‘ heart. The singer has been an object of affection for Shipka for some time, and now, thanks to the magical knowledge she’s acquired from her Netflix show, she knows exactly how to get Mendes to return her feelings. Though Mendes is currently in a relationship with former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello, Shipka might gain the upper hand with her occult ways.

In an interview with W Magazine, Shipka revealed that Mendes, and “a super young Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic,” are heavily featured in her list of crushes. “I’m pretty much 100 percent in on the Shawn Mendes craze. I am all about it. I love him,” Shipka gushed. It was Mendes’ musical chops that caught Shipka’s heart, though his boyish good looks are possibly also the reason for her crush. “I love ‘Lost in Japan.’ I love ‘Where Were You in the Morning?’ He has a whole album of remixes of ‘Where Were You in the Morning?’ and they’re all so good,” Shipka told the outlet. Mendes’ current catalogue of songs aren’t Shipka’s only favorites, however. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress also admitted she was a “big fan” of the singer’s older songs, like “Life of the Party” and “Never Be Alone.”
Kiernan Shipka learned a lot from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Since she plays Sabrina Spellman, teenage witch extraordinaire, Shipka now possesses knowledge of the dark arts. When the interviewer asked what she’d do to capture Mendes’ heart if she had Sabrina’s power of hexes, Shipka had a surprisingly thought-out answer. “I would say love potion,” instead of a hex, Shipka answered readily. “But honestly, that kind of feels like cheating, and I mean, love potion would be very easy, go get a coffee or something. Do a little sneaky love potion action.”
Though it wasn’t technically her first choice, Shipka admitted that a hex of some sort would also do the trick, though there was still more magic up her sleeve. “I think hexes maybe can be positive as well, but some sort of spell.” Instead of something that made the “Senorita” singer immediately fall in love with her, Shipka would prefer something a little more subtle. “I would want to do some sort of spell that would just put that energy out there that Shawn Mendes and I are meant to be.” Almost immediately, though, Shipka seemed to regret putting that wish out into the world. “I don’t know,” she demurred, “Now it’s truly never going to happen.” With the proper confidence, anything is possible, Shipka. Stranger things have certainly happened.
