A tabloid claims Jennifer Lopez is upset about Alex Rodriguez saying he’d invite his exes to their wedding. In addition to being untrue, the story is misleading and out of context. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

An article in the latest issue of In Touch says the former baseball star recently “revealed he wants to invite his exes to his wedding.” An alleged insider tells the outlet, “Something tells me J. Lo is not going to like the idea. If he ran it by her first, she would have been like, ‘No way!’ I’m sure she’ll still veto it.” From there, the tabloid speculates that Rodriguez’s famous ex-girlfriends like Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson will all score invites, as well as his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
Aspects of the magazine’s story are based in truth, but the majority of it is nonsense. During an interview on “Good Morning America” last week, Rodriguez was asked if “exes” would be invited to his wedding to Lopez. The former Yankee took a moment to think about the question before answering, “I would say exes invited to wedding. Yeah, all-inclusive. The more the merrier.”
For starters, Rodriguez never declared that he planned on inviting his exes to his wedding. The question covered Lopez’s exes as well. This could theoretically include ex-husband Marc Anthony, her two other ex-husbands and whoever else she’s dated over the years. However, no names were mentioned as the question was posed during a hypothetical game called “This or That,” in which Rodriguez had to choose between two scenarios regarding what his wedding might look like.
Naturally, In Touch doesn’t bother to mention that Rodriguez agreed to invite “exes” to his wedding within the context of a game on a talk show. The untrustworthy outlet also tries to make it seem as if he was only talking about his own past romantic partners. Rodriguez never mentioned any ex specifically and he didn’t bring up the topic. It’s also unclear if he or Lopez will actually end up inviting any of their exes, despite what was said during a game on a talk show.
Still, Gossip Cop ran the story by an individual in Lopez’s camp, who confirms it’s completely false. The singer isn’t the least bit upset with her fiance for saying he’s open to the possibility of having exes at their wedding. This isn’t the first time In Touch has attempted to used Rodriguez’s dating history against him. Last year, we busted the outlet for falsely claiming Lopez was “dumping” Rodriguez for staying in touch with an ex-fling.
Also last year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting Lopez and Rodriguez were getting married in Italy and having a baby. It’s fairly clear at this point that the tabloid knows nothing about the couple’s relationship. Instead, it’s taking moments from talk shows and attempting to create some sort of controversy.
