With award season in full swing, the tabloids have invented a lot of stories about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt related to the Golden Globes. The exes are the subject of so many false tabloid reports it can be dizzying and it’s no different recently. Gossip Cop has debunked a number of bizarre and untrue stories in the last few weeks regarding the two nominated actors.

It started innocently, though falsely, in mid-December when Woman’s Day purported Aniston and her ex-husband Justin Theroux would be double dating with Pitt and Alia Shawkut to the Golden Globes. The unreliable outlet asserted Aniston was hoping to squash rumors about her being back together with Pitt. It’s an interesting spin on the oft-repeated untrue allegation that they are dating again. It’s just as false as the other stories, however. Gossip Cop debunked the story after checking with Pitt’s spokesperson who denied this story and told us the actor wasn’t dating anyone at the moment.
Later in the month, New Idea claimed Aniston and Pitt were co-hosting a Golden Globe party together. That article contended that since the two were both nominated, they “hit on the idea” that they should hold a party for close friends. The publication quoted a supposed source as saying “They’ve wanted for ages to get their many shared friends together in one room for something truly intimate and upscale. This will be their way of saying thank you to each other.” The preposterous story was completely made-up, as Gossip Cop confirmed when we checked with Aniston’s rep, who told us it was “fabricated.”
Also in late December, Life & Style pushed an even bolder fabrication. The tabloid published an article alleging Pitt and Aniston were “going public” with their romance. A romance Gossip Cop debunked more than 70 times in 2019 alone. The couple is not back together, nor are they planning to “go public” with a relationship at the Golden Globes. Nonetheless, the tabloid claimed to have spoken with a source that told the outlet, “Brad and Jen are done hiding – and their side-by-side appearance at the awards show is all anyone can talk about. It’s like it’s meant to be!”
Curiously, the outlet was one of many that purported Pitt was dating Shawkut at the beginning of the month. After Pitt attended Aniston’s Christmas party, the unreliable magazine switched gears and invented this story. Neither story was true, as Gossip Cop pointed out. Both Pitt and Aniston will be at the Golden Globes, but not together.
Finally, earlier this week, Heat came up with a tall tale claiming Pitt’s estranged wife, Angelina Jolie, would be “crashing” the Golden Globe to mess with Pitt and Aniston. The phony report alleges Jolie, who is not nominated this year, has been invited to present an award. According to a supposed insider, “She doesn’t want it to be all about the reunion of Jen and Brad, when Ange is the one who’s still married to him.” Gossip Cop checked with our source close to Jolie who denied the ridiculous idea. The tabloids love to write about these three because they sell papers, but there is no truth to what the outlets write.
