During an appearance on TMZ Live on Monday, Oct. 7, Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who said he is representing 120 of Diddy’s victims, stated that some of his A-list friends, who were involved in the situation, are trying to pay off those speaking out before they are named in public lawsuits.
Buzbee also claimed that some celebrities have already settled.
“Everyone is focused on what other celebrities were involved, who is going to be named, who is going to be outed,” Buzbee explained. “I don’t expect that to happen this week. We want to make sure if we name individuals beyond Mr Combs that we have done our homework because it is going to create a firestorm, and we understand that.”
Buzbee also warned those who were involved. “If you were there in the room, participated, watched it happen and didn’t say anything or helped cover it up, in my view, you have a problem.”
The attorney then vowed to pursue each of his client’s cases “aggressively.” He also pointed out that the “scope” of the situation is broad. “A lot of people saw this activity going on, a lot of people allowed it to go on,” he noted. “Said nothing, didn’t intervene… All of these individuals and entities have exposure.”
The Attorney Sent Out Demand Letters to Allow Those Involved to Settle Quietly
Buzbee has already sent out demand letters to some of Diddy’s A-list friends and other high-profile celebrities. He was giving those who received the letter an opportunity to settle quietly.
“In every single case, especially cases like this,” he continued. “Because it’s in the best interests of the victim, we attempt to resolve these matters without the filing of a public lawsuit and we’ve done that already with a handful of individuals, many of which you’re heard of before.”
Buzbee revealed out of the 120 people he is representing 25 claimed they were minors when they were abused. The famous rapper has been accused of using his “power and prestige” to attract and intimidate women to participate.
Buzbee declared people are going to be “shocked” by the names of those allegedly involved. “It’s a long list already,” he added. “But because of the nature of this case, we are going to make damn sure, damn sure, that we’re right before we do that.”
Diddy is currently behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He was arrested in mid-September. The rapper was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He is currently awaiting his next court appearance.
