According to SFGate, the famous First Order Star Destroyer cannons officially became fully operational. The effects have rarely been functioning since the amusement park’s COVID-19 pandemic closure. Theme park reporter Scott Gustin was the first to report on the Rise of the Resistance effect running without glitches.
“Teams have been working for a long time to restore the effect,” Gustin explained on X (formerly Twitter). “And it has been restored as of this morning, Disneyland officials confirmed.”

Rise of the Resistance takes riders on a daring journey as the Resistance forces take on the villainous First Order.
“When your transport is captured by an imposing First Order Star Destroyer filled with legions of stormtroopers—and even Kylo Ren!” the ride’s description reads. “You’re going to need all the help you can get. Fortunately, a covert team of Resistance fighters—including Rey and BB-8—is at the ready to give you a fighting chance to escape… and a chance for the Resistance to rise.”
Meanwhile, the cannons at Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance have also experienced the same technical difficulties. However, whether the effects are now fully operational at the Florida theme park remains unclear.
Star Wars Actress Daisy Ridley Sees Herself as Rey in Rise of the Resistance During 2024 Disneyland Trip
Last summer, Star Wars lead Daisy Ridley was seen observing herself as Rey while riding Rise of the Resistance during a Disneyland trip.
The actress took to her Instagram Stories to share a video of herself visiting the ride. “Being IN the (top rated! [smirking emoji]) ride at Disneyland is MAD!!!” she wrote in the video’s text, per PEOPLE.
She then shared a photo of her interacting with a Disneyland employee portraying Rey at the theme park. “Surrealist!!! Ft. Philader the best Disneyland tour guide there ever was,” she wrote in the caption.
Months before her Disneyland visit, Ridley spoke to PEOPLE about the props she had from the Star Wars sets.
“From Star Wars, I have a lightsaber and the ring that I wore as Dark Rey,” she said in February 2024. “And John Williams gave me a signed piece of the score, which was phenomenal. They’re all in a very safe location.”
Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film set after The Rise of Skywalker.
The film, which Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing, will “tell the story of rebuilding the new Jedi order.”
