Oliver’s child, who is also named Ed, died on June 28, with the news just now breaking to the public. Last Men Standing podcaster Tony Farmer broke the news via X/Substack on Friday, citing ONSCENE TV footage and pubic records.

Farmer’s claims drew much scrutiny online due to the sensitive nature of the situation. The podcaster’s article, which we’re opting not to link to, includes images of the Buffalo Bills defensive tackle distraught in the aftermath of the tragedy.
After this controversial piece of reporting, TMZ confirmed the toddler’s passing in a Saturday report. The younger Ed was found unresponsive in a Houston pool by his parents on June 28. They sought medical assistance, with first responders transferring the boy to a hospital. Sadly, hospital personnel pronounced the boy dead at 7:18 p.m.
The Bills confirmed the death of Oliver’s son in a Saturday statement, though the organization did not offer further details.
“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son,” the NFL team’s statement read. “It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”
The team previously stated that Oliver was not travelling with the team due to an injury, in an effort to give the defensive tackle time to deal with the situation privately.
The current status of the investigation into the child’s death is unclear. These types of tragedies often face deep scrutiny in the aftermath, as seen in the deaths of TikToker Emilier Kiser’s 3-year-old son in 2025 and Olympian Bode Miller’s 19-month-old daughter in 2018.
