A tabloid claims Ben Affleck‘s ex-girlfriend, Lindsay Shookus, is dating Jon Hamm just to make him jealous. Nothing about the report is remotely true. Gossip Cop can correct every aspect of it.

Earlier this month, RadarOnline and a few other outlets wrongly reported Shookus and Hamm were dating after the two were spotted together at the opening of a Broadway show. However, a spokesperson for the Mad Men star told Gossip Cop on the record that they’re “just friends” and have been for a long time. The relationship between the Saturday Night Live producer and the actor dates back several years, and it’s always been a platonic one.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t stopped this week’s Life & Style from running a headline that reads, “Lindsay’s Just Using Jon To Make Ben Jealous.” An alleged insider tells the magazine that seeing Shookus and Hamm together “is sure to have struck a nerve” for Affleck. “After all, Ben and Jon know each other well and even starred in The Town together,” adds the supposed source.
The seemingly phony tipster continues, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Lindsay’s going out with Jon simply to make Ben jealous. She’s a smart woman who knows how to play the game.” In reality, Shookus simply met up with a friend at the opening of a Broadway show, and the unreliable outlet is attempting create drama. In addition to not being in a romance with Hamm, the SNL producer isn’t suddenly hanging out with him either. They’ve known each other for years.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who confirms the outlet’s story is total nonsense. Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by the magazine’s phony article. Life & Style printed a lot of fiction about Affleck and Shookus while they were still together. Last year, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Jennifer Garner was warning Affleck that Shookus was going to “trap” him by getting pregnant. There was no validity to the story.
Back in 2017, Gossip Cop called out the publication for wrongly reporting Affleck and Shookus were “secretly engaged” and planning a wedding after only a few months of dating. The actor’s divorce from Garner hadn’t even been finalized at the time that bogus report was published. It’s fairly clear the magazine never had any insight into Affleck and Shookus’ romance, and it’s no more knowledgable about where they stand post-split. The outlet took an untrue story about Shookus dating Hamm and used it to create an equally false scenario involving Affleck being jealous.
