27-year-old Flo Bragg was enjoying a vacation in Provence, France, with her partner, 40. However, the romantic setting simply wasn’t enough. Bragg became bored. However, inspiration hit when she decided to recreate the iconic lift from the 1987 hit film made famous by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
The couple attempted the lift in their villa’s pool…
Now, let’s back up a bit to try and understand Bragg’s logic.
In every 80s film, there must be a montage showing the young hero learning skills from their mentor that will help them succeed at the movie’s end. In Dirty Dancing, Baby is painstakingly taught by Johnny the show-stopping moment of their dance routine: the lift.
Of course, the move involves the studly Johnny hoisting Baby over his head, with her body splayed out and perfectly balanced above him. During the training montage, the athletic, beautiful young couple even practices the move in a lake for safety.
With that in mind, it stands to reason that the much less athletic couple trying the iconic move attempt to do it in a swimming pool. After all, safety comes first.
However, Flo and her poor husband aren’t quite the specimens Grey and Swayze were. As you can see below, their attempt didn’t go so well.

However, the water didn’t break the wannabe Baby’s fall.
The Wannabe Baby Suffered a ‘Broken Nose, Split Lip, and Two Lost Teeth’ in the Dirty Dancing Fail
Bragg crashed face-first into the pool’s concrete wall, resulting in the loss of her two front teeth and a broken nose. Now, she is seeking funds for her dental treatment, which includes x-rays and a double root canal, amounting to £270 (approximately $361 USD).
Her partner first chuckles at the botched lift but soon recognizes that something is amiss. “I split my lip, I split my lip! Help, help, help!” Bragg says in the footage.
After the accident (which went down on September 19th), Flo’s partner drove her to the hospital. Medical professionals were able to get her teeth temporarily reattached, essentially gluing them back in.
This experience made it tough for her to call the rest of her vacation the time of her life. She couldn’t eat normal food and had to shield her face from the sun.
“I ended up with one broken nose, one split lip, and two lost teeth over a lift,” she later recalled.
Meanwhile, it seems someone certainly put this baby in a corner.
Now mending back home in the UK, she owes French doctors money for the emergency care.
“Any money I can raise towards that would be great,” Bragg added.
