A new report claims Victoria Beckham wanted her daughter Harper to have a tea party with Prince William and Kate Middleton at Kensington Palace for her sixth birthday, but the royals rejected her request. Gossip Cop can reveal the truth.
The allegation comes from OK!, which blares in a headline, “Posh: Royal Reject.” In the piece, a so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Victoria wanted to have tea with William and Kate and their kids in Kensington Palace,” but Middleton was allegedly concerned that Harper’s parents would then “share photos on social media.” The outlet’s supposed insider goes on to claim that another worry would be that the royals would “face backlash for celebrating their famous friends instead of some deserving underprivileged kids.”
The publication’s questionable “source” further maintains that in an attempt to avoid negative press, Middleton “punted the affair” to Sarah Ferguson, who then hosted the event at Buckingham Palace instead. “Posh was thankful but found it a bit second-rate,” concludes the alleged tipster. But Gossip Cop investigated, and we’ve determined that the report is made-up.
While it’s true Harper attended a private function at Buckingham Palace, it wasn’t for her birthday. A rep for Beckham assures Gossip Cop the magazine’s report is not true, and that the get-together was part of a “school trip” with other classmates and “had nothing to do with her birthday.” OK! seemingly fabricated the angle about the former Spice Girl asking Kate Middleton and Prince William to have tea with her daughter at the residence at Kensington Palace.
What’s more, David Beckham shared a photo on Instagram of himself and Harper at Buckingham Palace, defending their visit and proving the event wasn’t for the six-year-old’s birthday. “Just to be clear, this wasn’t the palace opening the gates for Harper’s birthday party, this was a tea party where us and other guests were invited so it was a beautiful thing to do with my mum, Harper plus a few school friends… We were honored to be able to go there… Beautiful tea party,” he wrote.
Remember, this is coming from the same tabloid that Gossip Cop corrected in August when it falsely reported Victoria Beckham was “miserable” over a cheating scandal with David. And shortly before that untrue tale, we called out the publication for incorrectly claiming David and Victoria had split. Once again, the outlet has proven it has no genuine Beckham insiders and occasionally resorts to publishing royally wrong stories.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
