Tyrese was performing at his Atlanta concert on Saturday night when a security guard joined him on stage. The guard appeared to whisper something in Tyrese’s ear as he continued singing.
Once the security guard walked away, Tyrese hurried off-stage — while still singing. He then told the crowd “I love you” over and over before exiting the concert early.
Allegedly, someone was attempting to serve Tyrese legal documents relating to a $10 million defamation and libel case. The lawsuit was filed by Bryan Barber last year.
Documentary filmmaker Bryan Barber reportedly filed the lawsuit in October 2023 “over comments Gibson made about him on a September 7 appearance on The Breakfast Club.”
“Barber claimed that Gibson attacked his ‘character and reputation’ by stating that Barber took interview footage he paid Barber $35K to film, and now refuses to give it back,” Daily Mail reported.
“Barber claims that he and Gibson had agreed to a 50/50 split of revenues but at some point Gibson backed out of that, and now he’s seeking $10 million for the damage Gibson’s claims have done to his reputation.”
Tyrese Bails on Georgia Show Mid-Performance to Avoid Being Served Legal Papers
After Tyrese left mid-concert — allegedly to avoid being served legal documents — he shared a clip from the show on Instagram.
“Tonight we danced and SOLD OUT Atlanta….My heart is so full,” he wrote over the video. He then dedicated the show to his late mother, Priscilla Gibson, and his “two beloved sisters, Salendra and Shonta Gibson.”
“RIP,” he wrote. In the caption of the video, Tyrese added:
“Special day, two hours before the show I was going to cancel because my heart was so heavy. I just didn’t think I could get through it……. I all the genuine love and energy and the audience and just want to thank you guys for showing up tonight.”
Several fans commented on the post, mentioning his abrupt exit.
“Enjoyed the show! I tried to run you down in the parking lot to get a close-up pic.😂” one fan wrote. “You got away in that black mustang before I could get to you. Oh well, maybe the next time. Blessings to you and your brother-in-law. May the Lord equip him with everything he needs to raise those 7 babies.❤️🙏”
“It was the fast exit trying to avoid being served for meeeee….. lol,” another added.
