On The Bachelor, contestants have to find a way to make their mark if they want a shot at love. Previous contestants have done all sorts of things to capture the attention and the heart of the bachelor. Bri, a contestant on the current season, has found a unique way to make that happen. She's put on an Australian accent. From what we can tell, she views this as very different from claiming to be from Australia.
In the video shared as a teaser for the upcoming season, Bri tells this seasons bachelor Will Colton that she is hoping he's a "sucker for accents." When he asks where she's from she makes an important distinction that "the accent, it's Australian." Many viewers are pointing out that she never claims to be from Australia herself!
Twitter had a lot to say about Bri's tactic. Some found it pretty hilarious saying "I can't stop watching it and laughing.". Others were wary of what more this might say about her. One Twitter user said, "If this is just a day 1 thing to stand out, no big deal. It's hilarious. But if this carries on late through the season, oh boy." People are saying her fake accent may be indicative of a bigger problem with lying.
Despite people having strong opinions in the positive or negative camp, the overwhelming feeling was that of plain curiosity. How does she think this will play out? How prepared is she to continue with the lie? And, how far will it go?
No matter what Bri's thought process behind her accent is, it will definitely make for an interesting plotline for fans of the show. Maybe there's a method to her madness...maybe not. Either way, her accent launched her into 15 minutes of viral fame. Is it possible that was the goal all along? Is this another example of someone willing to go the extra mile to get a shortlived moment of notoriety?
What are your thoughts? Is this bachelor contestant just creative or is she totally fake? Does her willingness to keep a fake accent going say something bigger about people's desire to have their 15-minutes in the spotlight?
