Tom Cruise is not working out a custody deal with Katie Holmes for their daughter Suri, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct this falsehood. We’re told it’s “untrue.”
In a piece titled, “Tom Cruise Custody Deal Over Suri,” the National Enquirer alleges the actor and his ex-wife have “agreed to meet for the first time in years.” Tipping off that the story is fabricated, the supermarket tabloid first notes that news of the supposed meeting broke right as Holmes and Cruise’s “five-year divorce contract has come to a close.” But as Gossip Cop has previously reported, the rumor that Holmes had a five-year dating ban in her divorce settlement from Cruise is a myth.
Next, the magazine quotes a so-called “insider” as insisting in unnatural language that Cruise “needs to show Katie the respect of one-on-one dialogue and work out a regular visitation schedule with Suri, plus come to terms with the fact Katie is dating his former friend Jamie Foxx.” After pointing out that Cruise hasn’t been been publicly photographed with his daughter Suri since 2013, the tabloid’s source maintains, “Tom is open to meeting Katie,” and will probably bring someone from Scientology along. The publication alleges Cruise has been “ordered to turn on the charm” with Holmes by officials in the church.
Curiously, the tabloid doesn’t actually ever offer any specifics of Cruise’s proposed custody plan. Instead, it has its seemingly made-up source quoted as expositorily saying, “[Cruise is] 55 now, and his recent fall on the set of ‘Mission impossible 6,’ where he broke his ankle, made him realize he’s not getting any younger. He needs to work out the few relationships he still has left.”
Interestingly, this same publication, which now notes that the actor hasn’t seen Suri in four years, falsely claimed in December 2016 that Cruise “recently reconnected” with Suri in “a charming English village.” As Gossip Cop accurately reported at the time, the tabloid’s story was 100 percent false. It’s also the same unreliable magazine that absurdly maintained in 2016 that Cruise believed Suri was possessed by an “evil spirit.” That, of course, was also a lie.
Notwithstanding the Enquirer‘s record for being provably wrong, Gossip Cop looked into the tabloid’s tale. We’re told the magazine’s premise about Cruise hammering out a custody deal with Holmes over Suri is made-up. A Holmes insider assure us it’s all “untrue.”
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
