Don’t get too attached to the doctors at The Pitt. HBO Max’s critically acclaimed medical drama is set for a major cast shuffle when it returns for season 3 in 2027.

Indeed, pour one out for Dr. Samira Mohan. According to Deadline, Supriya Ganesh, who has played the character since Season 1, will be hanging up her scrubs and won’t be returning for the new season.
This shouldn’t surprise fans who watched season 2, as Dr. Mohan struggled to balance her personal and professional lives. She was also undecided about her future as a medical professional. Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) once suggested she might be suited for geriatrics.
Dr. Mohan spent most of the season in a tailspin, from a panic attack she mistook for a heart attack to the endless drama with her overbearing mother.

Her biggest win may have been helping an elderly couple avoid a retirement home. Maybe Dr. Robby was onto something when he suggested she ditch the chaos of emergency medicine for geriatrics.
‘The Pitt’ Already Has a New Cast Member Set Up for Season 3
That’s not the only cast shakeup for season 3. Ayesha Harris, who plays night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, has been promoted to a series regular. Harris previously appeared in two episodes of both season 1 and season 2.

Of course, since The Pitt is set in a teaching hospital, a revolving door of cast members is practically written into the script. Fans know that the show has already had a major cast member abruptly leave.
Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Heather Collins, exited the series after Season 1. Her storyline concluded early in season 2 when it was confirmed that Collins had finished her residency. She then moved to Portland for a new job as an attending physician and had just applied to adopt a baby.
All of this information about Dr. Collins was given through dialogue and happened off-screen. The Pitt fans should expect much the same treatment for the outgoing Dr. Samira Mohan… unless something very big is in store for the Season 2 finale.
