“Big Little Lies” cast members Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz are not worried about being pushed aside by Meryl Streep when she joins Season 2 of the HBO series, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told there’s no truth to it.
According to Life & Style, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern are all excited about Streep joining the show, but younger co-stars Woodley and Kravitz are concerned about their roles getting cut down to make room for the Oscar winner. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “With so much star wattage and only so much screen time available, [Woodley and Kravitz] fear they’ll be written out.”
The outlet further claims that the young actresses are worried about the prospect of Gwyneth Paltrow joining the show, but that’s inaccurate as well. When Paltrow was asked last month at the Goop summit in New York if she’d be interested in appearing on the HBO series, the actress said she’d love “to come do a cameo,” but hasn’t been asked. Paltrow’s involvement is hypothetical and there’s nothing legitimate to suggest she’s actually joining the cast.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with sources close to the situation, and we’re exclusively assured on background that the entire cast of “Big Little Lies” is thrilled about Streep signing on for the show. Also, the trade outlets have reported Woodley and Kravitz are an integral part of Season 2. There were new plot details released last week indicating that both actresses have their own story arcs in the upcoming season. That goes directly against the claim that they may be “written out.”
It’s worth noting, Gossip Cop has debunked countless tabloid reports about the show’s alleged behind-the-scenes drama. We recently corrected a similar story about Kidman being angry that Streep was joining the show, despite the fact that Kidman is the one who persuaded the actress to sign on. Shortly before that nonsense, Gossip Cop called out one of the magazines for wrongly reporting that Woodley was getting “snubbed” by the rest of the “Big Little Lies” cast. We also corrected a bogus story about the show’s second season being in jeopardy over supposed “money demands.”
Fans of “Big Little Lies” know there’s plenty of drama happening on-screen, but these endless tales of backstage tension are fabricated. Gossip Cop can confirm, based on our aforementioned sources, that Streep’s involvement in Season 2 hasn’t rattled any of the cast members. To the contrary, everyone agrees that the legendary actress can only benefit the series.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
