The band shared the news in a statement on social media on March 29, writing that it had “lost one of [their] founding members,” while offering condolences to Krupanski’s family and reflecting on decades of shared memories.
In its statement, the band described a deep personal loss. They wrote, “Words are failing us. Snapshots of memories skitter through our mind. Picking him up for our first tour from high school which his parents had to give permission to leave early.”
The band is “so f–king sorry George. We are so sorry Carla. We are so sorry Marc and Melissa. And our heart breaks for his daughter Georgie. We are so sorry.”
Krupanski played a central role in Boysetsfire from its formation in 1994. He remained with the group through its initial run until 2007, and later rejoined during its reunion period from 2010 to 2012. His drumming helped shape the band’s politically charged sound, which blended elements of hardcore, punk, and emo.
As of now, the band has not released further details regarding the circumstances of Krupanski’s death.
