A certain website is purporting to know how Rihanna “really feels” about Chris Brown “name checking her” amid their controversial history. Gossip Cop is told, however, that this story was made-up. In fact, it seems to be part of a pattern.
Often when Rihanna or Brown is in the news, HollywoodLife pretends to know the other’s reaction to the subject at hand. For example, after Brown tweeted earlier this month his idea for a joint tour featuring him, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Beyonce, the website manufactured her response and falsely claimed to know whether Rihanna would be willing to tour with Brown. Less than two weeks before that, when Rihanna was wrongly rumored to be pregnant, the blog alleged it had insight on how Brown was “hurt” by the possibility.
This same practice is being applied in a new article in the wake of Brown making an Instagram post about Rihanna’s birthday. According to this reaction story, the outlet has “exclusively learned” she’s “officially over Chris’s thirsty behavior” and “wishes” he and “everyone would ‘just move on’ with their lives.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Rihanna has really gotten to the point where she’s just tired of the whole Chris Brown thing.” The online publication’s supposed source drones on and on about the songstress keeping her ex-boyfriend in the “past,” and asserts she “really wants that chapter in her life to be closed for once and for all.”
Why, then, would Rihanna further fuel the narrative by having someone close to her talk about the situation to a blog that’s alternately known as HollywoodLies? It makes little sense to allege she doesn’t want to be linked to Brown anymore while simultaneously purporting that someone in her camp is publicly doing just that. It would be far more logical to just completely ignore attempts to tie them together. Giving Rihanna’s perspective extends the storyline, which, of course, is exactly what the website wants.
Really, it’s laughable that HollywoodLies tries to shame Brown for “doing something to stir up rumors and get people talking about him and her.” The site further suggests, “Perhaps Chris should stay in his own lane for a while?” Nowhere does the blog acknowledge its own role and take responsibility for continually peddling stories involving the exes. And while ridiculing Brown in this report, the outlet had an earlier story in which it deemed his birthday post “sweet.” (See screengrab below.)
Less than four hours passed between the two articles, and in that time, the publication magically found a Rihanna “insider” to help HollywoodLies capitalize on Brown’s much-talked about message? Gossip Cop wonders, where was this “insider” last May when the website was speculating Rihanna was pregnant with Brown’s baby? In that story from less than a year ago, the site maintained the former couple still had a “great (and flirty) friendship,” and insisted they planned on “linking up.”
That obviously doesn’t jive with the contentions expressed in this latest report, and that’s because all of it is made-up. As Gossip Cop has always rightly said, no one in Rihanna’s inner circle goes dishing to HollywoodLies. As a result, the site constantly changes course and desperately tries to exploit hot topics without regard for consistency and accuracy.
Brown’s birthday post is a popular subject on social media today, so the outlet has concocted a related story. But it’s easy to see right through it. Similarly, it’s transparent that Celebrity Insider stole this made-up story and is now passing it off as its own scoop. There’s nothing legitimate going on here.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
