The crime comedy-drama stars Kaitlin Olson as a single mother with an IQ of 160. She transitions from being a cleaner at the LAPD to a consultant for the Major Crimes division. After premiering on September 16, the show is scheduled to air its Season 2 finale on April 7.
Even though High Potential‘s second season was extended to 18 episodes from its original 13, fans are still frustrated. The show is ending much sooner than other ABC dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and Will Trent. They both won’t conclude until May.
‘High Potential’ Fans Vent After Beloved ABC Show Sets Early Finale
Needless to say, fans aren’t taking the news well. They’ve flocked to social media to mourn the early finale air date.
“The way the S2 finale of high potential is in two weeks already… seasons of TV shows used to end in May,” one fan of the ABC favorite wrote on X. “AHHHHHHH IM NOT READY FOR THE HIGH POTENTIAL SEASON FINALE ON TUESDAY,” another totally chill fan added.
“Yeah … everything about the way they mapped out 18 episodes against a full season feels like it was designed to ensure NO ONE was happy!” yet another fan bemoaned on Reddit.

High Potential may be ending its current season earlier than other ABC shows, but it’s also had several interruptions. These include a planned mid-season break from November to January and another in February for the Winter Olympics. Even after the Olympics, the show was delayed another week for ABC’s broadcast of the State of the Union address.
That said, fans can rest easy knowing the show isn’t going anywhere. Coming off high ratings for its second season, which averaged nearly 13 million viewers across all platforms, ABC has already renewed High Potential for a third season.
