In a post on his Truth Social platform, President Trump shared the news.
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,” he wrote. “Who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year.”
The world leader then praised Bondi for doing a “tremendous job” overseeing a “massive crackdown” in US crime. He further claimed that under Bondi’s leadership, murders had plummeted to their lowest level since 1900.
“We love Pam,” Trump continued. “And she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”
He then added, “Our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Bondi previously served as the 37th Attorney General of Florida from 2011 to 2019. In 2020, she joined President Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment trial.
She was nominated for US attorney general after former Congressman Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration. She was confirmed as the 87th US Attorney General in February 2025.
However, while in the position, Bondi was constantly criticized for her handling of the Epstein files. After confirmation, she told reporters that the files were on her desk, waiting for her to review. She later walked back her comment, stating there was nothing in the files.
President Trump Is Reportedly Considering EPA Director As New US Attorney General
According to Fox News Digital, President Trump is already considering replacing Bondi with Environmental Protection Agency Director Lee Zeldin.
The world leader met with Zeldin at the White House earlier this week to discuss wildfire prevention. However, a source close to the situation said the duo also spoke about the now vacant attorney general role.
Despite Bondi being ousted from her position in Trump’s cabinet, White House officials said she and Trump are still on good terms and maintain a good relationship.
Before he broke the news, Trump spoke highly of Bondi. “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person,” he stated on Wednesday. “And she is doing a good job.”
