"One California man has a very, um, special relationship with the DMV.
"My family has a tradition of being officially documented as by the government as characters because they don't know we're not those people," he tweeted. "My dad started this tradition in the 70s."
Over the years and over various states, Zalay has donned zany hairdos for his license pictures, from mullets to cornrows. Topped off with bizarre facial hair and strange expressions, we can't help but wonder what the DMV employees were thinking from behind the camera.
For his new photo, Zalay walked Twitter through the process.
"Today I wanted to take advantage of my relatively longer hair and lack of mustache, but my idea would need a lot of steps to transform this wholesome young boy," he tweeted.
And the final product:
"When processing my paperwork, the DMV employee comments, 'well, you're gonna need a new photo, you look nothing like your last California ID,'" Zalay tweeted. Here is the previous ID in question:
"Unfortunately when taking the official photo the picture person doesn't let me snarl my lip. But I'm snarling them with my eyes," he tweeted.
Zalay continued, "ID gets mailed in 2 weeks but for the next couple months my hair is gonna be a little extra so be cool about it."
Zalay isn't the only person to pull this stunt. Check out his brother's current license photo:
It might not exactly be the best way to "prank" the government, but it sure is hilarious. Hopefully, followers are kept updated on his future license photos.
