Megyn Kelly is not in talks to join “The View” following the cancelation of her NBC morning show, despite an untrue report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We’re told it’s false.
Last week, the TV host’s talk show “Megyn Kelly Today” was canceled following her controversial comments about wearing blackface on Halloween. The TV personality is now in the process of making her exit from NBC News entirely, and according to RadarOnline, she could be headed to ABC to join “The View.”
An alleged insider tells the blog, “They want her as a full-time host. Execs are very hot on the idea. They think she would be able to keep up with [co-host] Whoopi Goldberg and keep her in check. They think it would be blockbuster to have her.” The website goes on to say that discussions are still early, but Kelly is eager to sit on the panel once a spot becomes available.
The ousted morning show host still had more than a year left on her NBC contract and is currently negotiating her exit agreement. But the outlet’s “source” says that once it’s all settled, “‘The View’ is most likely going to be one of the first places she appears on — at least as a guest at first.”
The blog’s article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “insider,” but Gossip Cop checked in with a spokesperson for “The View,” who tells us on the record there’s “absolutely no truth” to it. Kelly simply isn’t in talks to join the ABC talk show. It’s worth noting, the TV personality is in the midst of a legal battle with NBC News and her lawyer is still negotiating her departure. It’s highly unlikely that Kelly is already talking to other networks when she’s yet to settle the terms of her exit agreement, including non-disclosure and non-compete clauses.
Additionally, RadarOnline has a history of making up stories about celebrities joining certain TV shows. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the blog for falsely claiming that Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber was going to be on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Shortly before that, we corrected the outlet for wrongly reporting that Kim Kardashian was becoming a judge on “American Idol.” Neither of those scenarios ever panned out. It seems the site’s behind-the-scenes “sources” are either nonexistent or very unreliable. This latest article surrounding Kelly and “The View” is another example.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
