After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry explained their struggles with gossip publications, one tabloid seems to have struck back. In Touch came up with a bizarre cover story about the spouses fighting with one another before Markle took their baby son Archie and fled their home. It’s complete nonsense.
In a recent interview, Markle was emotional when she expressed her frustrations with the constant attacks from tabloids, which sparked an intense discussion on social media. Additionally, Prince Harry and Markle are suing a British tabloid for breaching their privacy by publishing personal messages. Seemingly as a result, In Touch has published this bogus “report” full of false claims about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“A year of criticism takes a devastating toll on Meghan Markle,” the tabloid declares in its cover story, “and leads to the worst fight ever between her and Prince Harry.” The tabloid says Markle was fed up with the media pressure, and decided to leave the palace with her baby unannounced. This soon spins into a pile of attacks and digs at the Duchess disguised as a nonsensical narrative about Markle walking out on Prince Harry after fighting with him over giving up her old life.
The outlet then claims that a royal biographer is writing a book about Markle that has the couple nervous about it what it might reveal. The article further contends that Queen Elizabeth hates Markle for breaking royal protocol. It’s also alleged that Prince William trash-talked Markle to Prince Harry. We’re starting to see a pattern in this “report.”
Out of Touch with the Royals
Right from the get-go, the tabloid gets it wrong. Although the Duke and Duchess have received some criticism over their climate change initiative, Markle’s comments more referred to the constant and brutal nature of the personal attacks from British tabloids. In Touch is one of the parties guilty of relentlessly attacking the royal couple, and we highly suspect this “report” full of falsehoods is just a childish retaliation from the tabloid.
These claims about Markle not fitting in with the royal family aren’t new. In March, In Touch published a nonsensical story about Queen Elizabeth hating Markle for throwing a baby shower that didn’t follow royal protocol. Before that, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for an article about Markle making a vacation with Queen Elizabeth awkward on account of all of the “non-royal” aspects of her life. The outlet even tried push the idea that Markle was fighting with Kate Middleton to “take center stage” from her.
In December 2017, the tabloid claimed Markle was frustrated about giving up acting and her old life. Three months later, it tried again with another bogus piece about Markle struggling with “royal life.” Of course, that’s not even considering the plethora of stories about Markle being pregnant before the royal wedding, which would be a decidedly un-royal state of affairs.
Prince Harry released a statement regarding their struggles and lawsuit against one of the tabloids:
“There is a human cost to this relentless propaganda, specifically when it is knowingly false and malicious, and though we have continued to put on a brave face – as so many of you can relate to – I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been,” he wrote. “Because in today’s digital age, press fabrications are repurposed as truth across the globe. One day’s coverage is no longer tomorrow’s chip-paper.”
The Duke’s words ring true, especially considering the sheer amount of false stories about the couple from tabloids all around the globe. Because the couple chose not to suffer in silence in the face of vicious lies and constant falsehoods, the gossip media seems to have lashed out at them. Reality, however, is firmly on the side of Markle and Prince Harry. Gossip Cop can easily write off In Touch‘s latest work of fiction and confidently say there is no proof to the tabloid’s claims.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
