Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are not renewing their wedding vows as they prepare to stand trial for their alleged role in the college admissions cheating scandal. Gossip Cop can correct the story. It’s simply not true.
According to Life & Style, Loughlin and Giannulli have “decided to take a break from all the drama” surrounding their legal case by recommitting to each other. The spouses are facing more than 20 years each in prison after being accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters enrolled into the University of Southern California. A so-called “source” says the actress and her husband are “terrified at the idea of not being able to speak to each other if convicted and incarcerated,” so “they’re renewing their vows to make themselves feel more secure before facing the unknown.”
The questionable insider goes on to say that Loughlin and Giannulli will be having a small ceremony with a few of their closest friends. “It would be inappropriate for them to throw a big, glitzy party, and to be honest, they’re not in the mood,” adds the alleged tipster.
Although it’s true Loughlin and Giannulli have remained committed to each other throughout the college admissions scandal and their ongoing legal proceedings, there’s no vow-renewal ceremony in the works. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the couple, who tells us the tabloid’s article is totally made-up.
This wouldn’t be the first time Life & Style has been wrong about the college admissions scandal. In June, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy were headed for a divorce over the actress’s role in the scandal. A rep for the couple refuted the phony report, and the spouses of more than 20 years remain united.
Of course, other tabloids have been incorrect about Loughlin as well. In August, Life & Style’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, published a bogus report claiming Loughlin’s daughters had abandoned her in the wake of the scandal. In reality, the actress’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella, have been very supportive of their mom throughout the ordeal.
The gossip media has very little insight into what’s really going on with the celebrities involved in the college admission scandal, so it’s creating these ridiculous stories instead. Gossip Cop can confirm that Loughlin and Giannulli’s marriage is still on solid ground, but they’re more concerned with their legal battle than holding a vow-renewal ceremony.
Our Verdict
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
