This week in body shaming: a plus-sized model was denied access to a nightclub in Miami solely because of her body.
Naomie Chaput, who goes by Nao, was in Miami for a photoshoot and had planned to hit up South Beach's Story Nightclub with a friend but was told not to even bother. Apparently the rapper Future was supposed to be there and he specifically requested "no fatties."
Nao took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the incident.
According to Buzzfeed News, Nao and her friend told her Instagram followers, "So the promoter said that at Future’s request, no big girls allowed in club Story. It’s on South Beach, it’s common, no plus-sizes." Future allegedly requests this every time he comes through.
"It's not that I wanted to see Future personally, because I don't give a d_ about no f_ing rappers," Nao said in her Instagram story, "But it's the fact that it's a thing in 2019 where we can say 'no fatties in the club.'"
Though Nao's publicist reached out to the nightclub and Future's management about the situation, they haven't heard anything back. However, Future did address the situation on Twitter by tweeting, "STOP CAPPIN ON MY NAME..I love all women."
Since Nao never received any word from Future's management, she decided to reach out to him directly on Instagram and provided Buzzfeed with the receipts. According to the messages, it seemed like Nao just wanted some clarity on the situation, but Future just accused her of lying and claimed that it what happened was on the nightclub, not him.
Since Nao hasn't received an apology or statement from neither Future nor Story Nightclub, she and her publicist are now pursuing legal action with a law firm based in Miami.
What do you think: was it wrong for Future to request no fat girls at the club or is Nao just trying to get her fifteen minutes? Sound off in the comments!
