A tabloid report claiming Kit Harington is so depressed over “Game of Thrones” coming to an end that it’s causing marriage problems between him and Rose Leslie is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus premise. There’s plenty of evidence to disprove it.
According to OK!, the actor and actress, who met on the set of the HBO series, haven’t been able to enjoy their time as newlyweds because Harington is too “down in the dumps” over the hit show wrapping up next season. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Rose understands how he feels, but she wants him to snap out of it so they can go on a honeymoon.”
The outlet’s supposed source adds, “This should be the happiest time of their life and Kit is spending it crying in a corner over a TV show.” The seemingly phony tipster concludes that Leslie “does her best to comfort Kit by pointing out that he has his whole career ahead of him,” but he just can’t get over the fact that “Game of Thrones” won’t be on the air much longer.
This entire narrative is provably untrue. Harington himself said in an interview with Digital Spy last year, “‘Thrones’ is coming to the end at the right time for me, and everyone involved in it.” The actor added, “I’m looking forward to finishing, and eight years is the right amount of time. I wouldn’t want it to go on any longer than it has. I have other ideas I’d like to look at producing.”
The actor echoed that sentiment less than two months ago. When Entertainment Weekly asked what he plans to do once the series wraps, Harington said, “I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone.” Harington did note that he’s emotional about the show ending, but the idea that he’s inconsolably “depressed” about it simply isn’t accurate.
Meanwhile, there’s also evidence to prove that Harington and Leslie’s marriage is going strong. The Daily Mail recently posted photos of the happy couple packing on the PDA while car shopping in London. One image shows Leslie with her arm wrapped around her husband, while additional shots feature the two holding hands and laughing.
Conclusion: Despite OK!‘s claim that Harington is in a state of depression over “Game of Thrones” ending, the actor himself has made it clear he feels it’s the right time to finish the show. There’s also photographic evidence showing that the actor and his wife aren’t at odds and he hasn’t been spending his days “crying in a corner.” Much like “Game of Thrones,” the tabloid’s report is pure fantasy.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
