Kim Kardashian feels “bullied” by Taylor Swift, according to a report from a webloid trying to exploit their feud with made-up stories. Gossip Cop has learned that this piece was fabricated like the many articles that came before it.
Since Swift’s new single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” was announced last week, HollywoodLife has published roughly 20 related stories involving Kardashian. The site is desperate to capitalize on the interest in their feud and Swift’s new music, and isn’t content to just report the straight facts. Rather, to score as many click as possible, HollywoodLies has been manufacturing “exclusives” in which the outlet pretends to know Kardashian’s reactions to Swift’s song. And several of these made-up pieces have been contradictory.
For instance, one such story claimed Kardashian was “prepared for war,” while the next insisted the diss track “wasn’t really bothering her.” Then it was said Kardashian was “furious” over the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video. And then came a piece that maintained the reality star was “rising above” the drama, insisting Kardashian wasn’t focused on retaliation. The back-and-forth is enough to give a person whiplash. And it’s continuing on Wednesday with a new “exclusive” from the site’s “sports editor.” Seriously.
“Kim Kardashian Feels Taylor Swift Is Trying To ‘Bully’ Her With ‘Petty’ New ‘LWYMMD’ Video,” declare the headline of this latest article, which alleges that, “to Kim, all Taylor did was prove how much a ‘bully’ she thinks Tay is.” A so-called “Kardashian family insider” is quoted as saying the reality star believes she and husband Kanye West Kim “do not deserve to be subject of such scorn from a bully like Taylor.” This supposed source even tries to shame Swift for releasing her new song and video “with so many more important things happening in the world.” That prompts HollywoodLies to assert, “Well, with Texas underwater and neo-Nazis marching in the streets, perhaps it’s not the right moment for Taylor, or anyone, to try and pick a pop culture fight?”
Again, this is coming from an outlet that has published well over a dozen separate articles, most of them made-up, about this “pop culture fight.” However much Swift fanned the flames, HollywoodLies is keeping the fire going to an extreme degree. It’s galling to then put the blame on the singer. It also takes nerve to repeatedly claim to have “exclusives” about the situation when most of the stories aren’t even consistent. Whether or not Kardashian feels “bullied,” no one is really telling the site, and the contention stands in contrast to HollywoodLies previously claiming she was unbothered and “rising above.” If you guessed the online publication is just trying to play all sides and angles, you’d be right.
This isn’t about delivering real news with thorough reporting. It’s about duping fans to get traffic on a hot topic. And Gossip Cop has been assured, again, that the Kardashian family isn’t having “insiders” run to the webloid to give “exclusives.” Kardashian hasn’t publicly addressed Swift’s song or video because she’s far more interested in other things, such as raising her kids and running her beauty line. HollywoodLies could a learn a lesson from her decision to just stay silent.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
