Kendall Jenner has not been “in tears” over backlash she’s received for attending the Golden Globes, despite a report. The claim is completely wrong, and Gossip Cop can debunk the story.
RadarOnline is blaring in a headline, “‘Why’s She Here?’ ‘Mortified’ Kendall Jenner ‘In Tears’ Over Latest Fan Backlash.” According to the accompanying article, the model was “in tears” after attending Sunday’s awards show because she was “getting ripped apart by social media followers” for going to the entertainment event. A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Kendall was absolutely destroyed on Instagram and Twitter, and was mortified when she checked her accounts during the show.”
“She was crying to her sisters afterward, saying she is never going to the Globes again,” continues this supposed snitch, claiming to the site, “She does not understand why she gets so much hate, because she thought people treated her differently from the rest of family.” Alleges the purported tipster, “But now realizes she is clearly being grouped into the Kardashian clan even though she’s worked so hard to be separate.”
From there, the outlet goes on to quote random Twitter users who “made fun of the catwalk queen and reality star, who was a guest of Vogue, for attending a ceremony honoring TV and film actors.” The publication then tries to connect this situation to the criticism she received for her controversial Pepsi commercial last year. Of course, deservedly or not, the Jenner-Kardashians face a backlash for virtually everything they do and every major event they attend.
And not everyone at the Golden Globes is a TV or film actor. As long as you’re properly invited, as Jenner was through Vogue, you are permitted to attend. While this was the first time she sat in on the ceremony, Jenner is no stranger to the Golden Globes as she hit up the after-parties last year. She knows she was welcome to attend the awards show this year regardless of what strangers on the internet say.
In fact, after she was praised for “showing up and strutting her acne while looking like a gorgeous star,” Jenner made clear on Twitter that she doesn’t care what people what think. She replied, “Never let that [expletive] stop you!” By the same token, Jenner isn’t letting random comments about her entirely permitted presence at the event get to her, Gossip Cop is told by her rep. And we’d be remiss not to mention that this webloid has been churning out multiple false stories tied to the awards show.
That includes phony reports about Hugh Jackman being upset over his Golden Globe loss to James Franco and Angelina Jolie “seething” over watching Jennifer Aniston on stage. What’s more is that the site also peddled a phony tale about Jenner at last year’s Golden Globes, wrongly claiming she was rejected from the after-parties. It seems the blog is not only set on using the awards for scandal, but also committed to trying to make the model look bad. But when the stories are wrong and clearly made-up, the only one that ends up looking bad is RadarOnline itself.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
