Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been a hot topic for the tabloids, which often publish stories about the singer being jealous of her fiance talking to, or just being around, other women. Gossip Cop has debunked several variations of the phony narrative. Here are a few recent articles we’ve debunked.
In July, Life & Style claimed Perry warned Jennifer Aniston to “stay away” from Bloom. The outlet said the singer found questionable texts from Aniston on Bloom’s phone, making her wonder if the two were “more than friends.” At no point in the article did the magazine reveal what Aniston’s texts had said, or what led Perry to believe there was something going on between the two.” Still, Gossip Cop checked in with Perry’s rep, who dismissed the ridiculous story as “rubbish.”
In August, Woman’s Day alleged Perry was angry because Bloom was spotted his attractive assistant at an airport. A so-called “insider” was quoted as saying, “Orlando and this girl looked very close and she was fussing over him the whole time.” Gossip Cop checked in with Perry’s rep, who once again told us on the record that the story was untrue. The singer doesn’t have an issue with her fiance traveling with his employees, male or female.
Earlier this month, In Touch wrongly reported that Perry and Bloom were fighting over Selena Gomez. According to the tabloid, Perry had “put the brakes” on her wedding plans after finding text messages between Bloom and Gomez. The bogus scenario was inspired by a years-old rumor about Gomez and Bloom hooking up after they were seen chatting in a club. The actor never had a romance with the singer, nor did Perry find texts between the two all these years later. Gomez’s own rep told us she hasn’t been in touch with Bloom anytime recently.
Just this week, Woman’s Day falsely claimed Perry was angry at Bloom for flirting with Cara Delevingne. Bloom and Delevingne, who co-star on the Amazon Prime show Carnival Row, have been on a promotional tour together. This was all it took for the tabloid to insist they were flirting, and Perry was furious about it. There was no evidence presented beyond a flimsy quote from a questionable source, and there was no mention at all of Delevingne’s relationship with Ashley Benson, who she’s been dating for more than a year. Gossip Cop check in with Perry’s spokesperson, who once again went on the record to call the story untrue. In reality, Perry and Bloom remain happily engaged and there are no other women who’ve come between them.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
