Katie Holmes is not scouting a wedding venue in Ireland, despite inaccurate speculation about the actress planning to marry Jamie Foxx. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight. A rep for Holmes tells us there’s no ceremony in the works.
Last week, Holmes was photographed visiting Borris House, a historic estate in Ireland that serves as a popular wedding venue. The actress stayed overnight at the establishment with her daughter Suri, which has prompted The Daily Beast to speculate she’s “contemplating tying the knot with Foxx” at the location.
According to the site, Holmes “was said to have asked about the house’s history and its use as a wedding venue.” Of course, showing interest in a historic property isn’t proof of an impending marriage. Meanwhile, the website Irish Central is also sparking marriage rumors, claiming the actress was “inquiring about hosting a wedding at the medieval stately home.”
This wedding speculation is based on noting but Holmes visiting an estate that’s used for weddings. Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a rep for the actress, who tells us on the record that she “was in Ireland for work” and certainly not scoping out wedding venues. In fact, Holmes and her daughter took in a lot of different sites during their trip overseas.
Prior to staying at Borris House, Holmes was spotted getting a tour of Kilkenny castle and attending the National Design and Craft Gallery. The actress and her daughter were also seen grabbing lunch in Dublin and visiting a pottery store. It’s likely that Borris House was just another stop on her sightseeing tour. Regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm that Holmes didn’t visit the property to determine if it will make a good wedding venue.
It should be noted, it’s not as if Holmes was caught by paparazzi visiting Borris House. The actress happily posed for a photo at the establishment and allowed the picture to be posted on its official Instagram page. If Holmes were actually scouting secret wedding locations, it’s highly unlikely she’d advertise herself on the property.
Of course, the actress’s relationship with Foxx is the constant subject of bogus tabloid reports. Last month, a number of outlets alleged that Holmes and Foxx had called off a planned wedding and split over “trust issues.” The actress’s rep later shot down the premise as “100 percent untrue.” Holmes and Foxx are still romantically involved, but they’re not planning a wedding, either in Ireland or anywhere else.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
