Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are not planning a $3 million “Wedding of the Year,” despite a made-up tabloid report. It’s just another false rumor about the couple’s marriage plans. Gossip Cop can correct the story.
“This is going to be an event like no one’s ever seen before,” an anonymous source tells OK! about Lopez and Rodriguez’s upcoming nuptials. “There will be music, dancing, extravagant floral arrangements and plenty of celebrity guests.” These celebrities, who are said to be on a guest list of at least 500 people, supposed include George and Amal Clooney, Pitbull, Leah Remini and Britney Spears.
According to the tabloid, Lopez and Rodriguez are keeping the “important details” of when or where the wedding is happening totally secret. “This will be Jennifer’s fourth time walking down the aisle, and she knows how easily this could turn into a media circus if information got out,” the insider says. “That’s the last thing she wants to happen.”
“At the end of the day, the thing they care most about is simply becoming husband and wife,” the source continues. The tipster calls the singer “very traditional” and insists that she plans to take the Yankees legend’s last name once they tie the knot. “Jennifer is madly in love with Alex and knows that he’s the man she’s meant to spend the rest of her life with. She just can’t wait to become Mrs. Rodriguez.”
However, by the next page of the piece, the tabloid changes it mind about the secret location bit and says that Lopez has set the ceremony in Miami. It also sprinkles in surprisingly specific details like Rodriguez planning a massive fireworks show over the ocean during their final dance – to show off what’s learned in super secret ballroom dancing lessons.
The outlet also says Lopez is coordinating with Versace for three separate dresses and a 10-layer cake packed with chocolate, vanilla, white chocolate and edible flowers. While all of those components do sound like they’d belong in the “wedding of the year,” they simply aren’t actually part of the couple’s plans. It’s also quite bizarre for the magazine to begin its article by saying all of the details are being kept “private,” only to throw in all of this nonsense.
Gossip Cop ran the story by one of our sources close to the couple, who dismissed it as total fiction and called it “ridiculous.” OK! also doesn’t address what happened to Lopez and Rodriguez’s Vatican ceremony that would cost “tens of millions,” as it claimed was happening back in June. And, as Gossip Cop has pointed out in previous busts of phony Lopez-Rodriguez wedding stories, the two aren’t thinking about their nuptials yet. In an April interview with 103.5 KTU, Lopez admitted that the two hadn’t even started planning the wedding due to their work schedules, and it likely won’t happen until 2020.
“We’re working the rest of the year,” she said, “so I don’t know what’s going to happen. We haven’t decided if we’re going to squeeze it in somewhere or we’re going to wait.” If the wedding even does end up happening before the end of the year, and it doesn’t seem likely at the moment, Gossip Cop still suspects most of the details in this latest article won’t check out.
Additionally, the tabloid published a story alleging Lopez and Rodriguez were having a baby in June 2018. Gossip Cop corrected the outlet at the time of publication, and time has proven us right. The magazine clearly has no actual insight into the couple’s relationship, let alone a wedding that hasn’t been planned yet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
