Gwen Stefani is not pregnant, despite baby bump “rumors.” But what’s especially galling is that the website peddling such inaccurate speculation actually accuses the singer herself of “causing” the “pregnancy rumors.” That is patently false. Gossip Cop can explain what’s going on.
“HOLIDAY BABY? Gwen Stefani Dresses In Red For Christmas As Pregnancy Rumors Fly,” reads a headline from RadarOnline, which asks, “Is she hiding a baby bump from Blake under baggy sweatsuit?” According to the site’s spin, Stefani “continued to cause pregnancy rumors this weekend as she stepped out in an all-red outfit Santa-inspired outfit [sic] perfect for the holidays.” The paparazzi pictures featured, however, show the singer’s outfit wasn’t “baggy” at all and rested against her flat stomach.
The site then points out Stefani was “holding a big purse,” and wonders, “the better to hide her baby bump?” Yet the photo accompanying that text shows the singer’s pocketbook wasn’t even directly in front of her stomach, but held more to her side. Clearly she wasn’t trying to “hide” anything. The outlet next goes back to highlighting the outfit, asserting, “The middle of Stefani’s sweatsuit just happened to have a lot of fabric, perfect for causing a distraction.” “Distraction”?
But look for yourself at Stefani in the photo (below) in which the outlet put a circle around her midsection to highlight it. Her red outfit is not “baggy;” there’s no purse used to “hide her baby bump;” and the fabric actually rests fairly snug against her tummy, which most importantly is pretty trim. There’s nothing to indicate in the picture that Stefani is expecting and has a baby bump.
Still, the blog adds, “Stefani hiding a baby bump isn’t news to RadarOnline.com readers, as Stefani has showed her burgeoning belly before, recently appearing in a skintight mermaid costume.” Actually, the site and a few tabloids tried to dupe readers into thinking Stefani had a baby bump on Halloween when that wasn’t the case either. To be clear, the singer stepped out on Halloween and again this weekend, and did nothing to suggest she was pregnant in either instance. Simply, the outlet saw fit to manufacture bogus pregnancy angles… and somehow she’s now to blame?
Stefani has not “continued to cause pregnancy rumors” and never did to begin with. The fault lies with the site for pointing to a nonexistent bump every time she steps out in public. It’s worth noting that, for the most part, other outlets that published these latest photos did not say anything about the star supposedly indicating she’s pregnant. For instance, the Daily Mail merely observed Stefani was dressed in red, a fitting choice for the holiday season.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Insider, a site that seemingly does not fact-check, simply regurgitated the webloid’s story. It wrote, “Stefani seems to be sporting a small sign of a baby bump,” and that her fans believe she “may be pregnant.” And while other outlets speculate, Gossip Cop investigates. A rep for Stefani exclusively tells us on the record that talk of Stefani being prenant is utter “nonsense.”
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
