Gigi Hadid is not pregnant with Zayn Malik‘s baby, despite a speculative online rumor. It’s completely untrue, and just another example of fake news.
The bogus rumor began to swirl online on Monday after a fake Twitter account supposedly belong to Hadid’s mom, Yolanda Foster, insinuated her older daughter was pregnant. “I will be a proud grandma in eight months… Life is a blessing,” read the phony tweet, prompting the hashtag “#CongratsZigi” to trend on Twitter. But the pair are not expecting, and the only thing fertile is the imagination of the person who made up the rumor that Hadid’s pregnant.
Shortly after it spread, a fan of Hadid tweeted Foster, asking if there was any truth to the claim. The reality star quickly responded to the tweet, effectively shutting down the rumor and clearing up any confusion surrounding her daughter’s supposed pregnancy. “No of course not, if my daughter was pregnant she would be the one to announce it not me,” noted Foster.
Most of the fake news about Hadid and Malik has previously been just in the tabloids. In fact, the past year and a half, Gossip Cop has had to bust a number of untrue claims about the couple. In April 2016, for example, we called out Star for falsely alleging Hadid and Malik were engaged. According to the tabloid, the former One Direction singer proposed to his model girlfriend during a surprise trip to New York City. Of course, the entire story was made-up.
And just a little more than a month ago, OK! wrongly reported that Malik and Hadid were “on the rocks.” In that article, the publication insisted the couple was having relationship problems and about to end their romance. A source close to Malik told Gossip Cop that report was 100 percent “rubbish.”
If and when Hadid gets pregnant, it will be announced by the model herself, and not a phony Twitter account. In the meantime, Gossip Cop will continue to monitor the tabloids and social media to suss out what’s factual and what’s fake news.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
