No, George Clooney and Amal Clooney, Julia Roberts and Danny Moder, and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett did not get divorced in 2019. Neither did Kanye West and Kim Kardashian or Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. All of those couples were the subject of multiple false breakup stories in the tabloids this year. Gossip Cop debunked them all.
George And Amal Clooney
George and Amal Clooney have been married for five years now, and the tabloids have been predicting a split for almost as long as they’ve been together. In 2019, Gossip Cop busted many bogus reports predicting an imminent divorce. The most recent narrative has surrounded the couple’s busy work schedules. Last month, we debunked a story in OK! that alleged friends were worried about their marriage because “the distance has led to a lot of tension between them.” Gossip Cop pointed out that the couple has often been apart while working and this is nothing new. They are not on the verge of a divorce.
Julia Roberts And Danny Moder
Gossip Cop has debunked more than 20 stories in 2019 about Julia Roberts’ relationship being on the brink of divorce with her husband. The most popular premise is that whenever the family goes on vacation, Roberts and Moder are traveling to “save their marriage.” Hawaii, Alaska, and Italy have all been relationship-saving destinations, according to phony tabloid reporting. In January, the National Enquirer went for broke when it alleged Robert was leaving Moder for George Clooney. Like all the other stories, Gossip Cop busted this ridiculous notion.
Will Smith And Jada Pinkett
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett are in the tabloid headlines a lot, also supposedly on the verge of divorce. Often the allegations include infidelity by one or the other. In 2019, the tabloids connected Smith with Margot Robbie and Pinkett with rapper August Alsina. Most recently, the Globe called Smith and Pinkett’s marriage a “sham,” claiming that they don’t even speak to each other. Gossip Cop called out the publication for its poor reporting, pointing out the actor’s recent appearance on his wife’s Facebook show.
Kanye West And Kim Kardashian
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian don’t keep much of their life together a secret. Between Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Kardashian’s enthusiastic use of social media, they tend to let the public in on their marriage. Despite that, the tabloids invent stories all the time proclaiming marital problems and impending breakups. Usually, the tabloids tell a tall tale based on something already known. The latest example came last week when the National Enquirer predicted Kardashian and West were divorcing over his religious obsession. West’s newfound religious convictions have been a topic on KUWTK this season, and the tabloid spun that storyline into a phony report about a divorce. It wasn’t true, as Gossip Cop pointed out.
Justin Bieber And Hailey Baldwin
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were legally married in a courthouse ceremony in September 2018. They were targeted with countless split rumors in the months that followed. In March of this year, the Mirror published a false report about Baldwin consulting divorce attorneys. In July, NW asserted that Bieber and Baldwin were ready to call it quits. Gossip Cop debunked every one of these stories and our reporting was justified when the couple had a proper wedding ceremony in September 2019. They were never headed for a split.
These are hardly the only famous couples the tabloids have predicted would get divorced this year. Everyone from Beyonce and Jay-Z to Prince William and Kate Middleton to Michelle and Barack Obama have been on the verge of a breakup – if you believe the tabloids. Luckily, Gossip Cop knows better. We will continue to call out the gossip media when it reports false rumors like these in 2020.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
