Jason Elvie Ty, the drag performer known as Misua on Drag Race: Philippines, has died.

On April 2, the production team behind Drag Race: Philippines, World of Wonder, announced in a joint Instagram post that Misua had died in her sleep.
“We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race: Philippines, passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2,” the post read. “She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.”
The production company also announced it has “paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time,” adding, “Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her.”
“We are in contact with her family, who have asked for privacy during this hard time,” the post concluded.
The 27-year-old’s cause of death is currently unclear.
The Drag Community and Family Pay Tribute to Misua
Misua was a member of the Haus of LaFeya and performed at the Rampa Drag Club. She also worked as a graphic designer. Season 4 of the show had just started filming when she died. The cast had not yet been officially announced.
The drag community has shared an outpouring of love following the news. Hannah Conda from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under commented on World of Wonder’s Instagram post: “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”
Blu Hydrangea, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World, also wrote, “Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved ❤️🙌.”
According to Variety, the family of Misua, whose name was Jason Elvie Ty outside of drag, also paid tribute to their late loved one. “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends,” the family wrote in a social media post obtained by Variety.
