According to TMZ, the accident occurred after Mirman’s 2026 Lucid Gravity was struck at the toll plaza in Bedford, New Hampshire. At some point, Mirman’s vehicle caught fire, and he was unable to get himself out.
New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte was among those who witnessed the terrifying situation. She, along with a veteran state trooper and others, pulled Miman out of his vehicle.
Miman was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital.
In a statement, Colonel Mark B. Hall praised those who helped the comedian out of his vehicle. “Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”
Speaking directly about the trooper involved, Hall stated, “The trooper, without hesitation, responded to the vehicle along with a couple bystanders and proceeded to remove the male operator from the vehicle to provide aid.”
Hall did not reveal the trooper’s identity. However, he said the law enforcement vet’s actions were heroic and saved Miman’s life.
The trooper, without hesitation, recognized that it was a serious crash and that there was clearly somebody still within the vehicle,” he added. “[The trooper] was able to, I believe, pull the person out through the window along with a couple bystanders that also stopped to help the trooper.
The Comedian’s Rep Speaks Out
Hours after the news broke about Miman’s terrifying car crash, the comedian’s rep spoke out.
“Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” the rep told TMZ. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders, and hospital staff who saved him.”
The rep further stated, “He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”
No charges have been filed for the other driver involved in the accident, which is currently under investigation. It has been reported that the Bedford Toll Plaza has been a site of multiple crashes in recent years.
“Take your time. Go a little bit slower through them. They’re very narrow. They are designed to take cars. [The cars] hit them and they actually flip them,” Merrimack, N.H., Deputy Chief Eric Dubowi explained. “So please, take your time going through the tolls. Safety first. Because if you don’t make it to your destination, what’s the point?”
Days before Miman’s accident, a woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving after she crashed into the same plaza and rolled her vehicle.
