Colin Jost is not proposing to Scarlett Johansson. Contrary to a tabloid report, the stars have no plans to wed. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this inaccurate story.
Star is blaring in its current issue, “Jost Jonesin’ To Make Scarlett His Missus!” Though the pair have only been linked in recent months, the tabloid claims he’s already “itching to put a ring” on Johansson’s finger. “After a sizzling summer of Colin and Scarlett heating up the Hamptons to Mercurian temps with jaw-dropping PDA, the hunky comedy star’s getting ready to pop the big question,” contends the publication.
“Colin’s beyond head over heels! Scarlett is literally his dream girl,” a so-called “society spy,” whatever that is, is quoted as saying. This supposed source goes on to claim to the gossip magazine, “He’s looking at massive diamonds and the plan is for a romantic vacay proposal, where they’ll ring in the New Year with a sparkly engagement ring.” The outlet ends by insisting its piece is “no joke!” Gossip Cop didn’t think it was joke, nor would it be a very funny one if it were.
The bigger problem is that it’s just not a factual article. While Jost and Johansson are seeing each other, and she was even seen at the “SNL” premiere after-party last weekend, their relationship isn’t exclusive. The actress still has romantic ties to her longtime close pal, Kevin Yorn. In other words, she’s not rushing down the aisle for a third marriage any time soon. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a contact close to the situation, and we’re exclusively told it’s “not true” Jost is getting ready to propose. These allegations are just very premature.
Yet the gossip media has already fixated on the duo as if they’re destined to become some kind of supercouple. Even though they haven’t been dating for very long, Gossip Cop has already had to debunk two other tall tales, both from Star‘s sister publication, the National Enquirer. The tabloid first claimed that the “SNL” cast’s hookups with the show’s celebrity hosts were angering “Saturday Night Live” boss Lorne Michael. And just two weeks ago, there a was ridiculous article about Johansson laughing at Jost’s “dirty” talk. If the tabloids are going to peddle fiction, maybe they should hire the “SNL” writers to at least come up with better stories.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
