Would 10/10 recommend this to anyone!
I did it during late evening, but I had to rinse it out next morning because I could not function with the smell!!!
I began by using Ion's Clarifying Shampoo , washing my hair thoroughly three times with it before gently combing out and drying with a large, round brush and high heat. This is where I saw the most damage occur to my hair (albeit very little); if you have insanely thick, always tangled hair like I do, combing without conditioner or leave-in treatment is hell. Be patient, work in small layers, and you'll get through it. I did this before bed, splitting the entire process up into two days.
The next morning, I divided my hair into front and side segments and applied the product as described; in small sections, enough to saturate, but only slightly building up on front of my fine-tooth comb with ran through each section. As others mentioned, the fumes here are awful; the product's smell itself isn't so bad, but the chemical stench sneaks up on you! make sure you're in a well-ventilated room and take breaks when you need them.
I allowed the application to sit for about 30 minutes, where it dried to a damp-tacky stage. I followed this with the medium-heat blow dry step, again using my large, round brush to dry the product completely while also removing some of my natural curl/wave. This is the half way point, so celebrate! The next step's the real pain.
I divided my now-dry hair into three sections again- back and sides- and enlisted my boyfriend to straighten the back portion, using my digital CHI at 365 degrees. You really need to get that straightener up to the roots and thoroughly over the shaft of the hair for at least 8 passes per section, so definitely enlist a friend to help you. I'm pretty good at straightening my hair by this point in my life, but the tiny sections and repeated passes would have been too much for me! Boyfriend did about 12 horizontal layers on the back segment, each divided into 4 smaller groups. I then completed each side on my own. As mentioned, you'll want to make at least 8 passes, or until the chemical no longer smokes on your hair. The entire flat ironing process probably took two hours.
Although the bottle and videos say it can be washed out next day, I left it in for 36 hours and even tied my hair back loosely at one point without issue (working out with my hair down is a HUGE no-go). when I did finally wash, I used a sulphate- and sodium-free shampoo and deep conditioner. Here's the real magic: When I got out of the shower, I noticed my waves were far more relaxed than normal. When I began blow dry my hair, I was able to use a paddle brush and only two sections of hair to get a perfectly-acceptable, frizz-free, non-poofy, straight 'do...in about 10 minutes! I finished it with a round brush to add some lift. By contrast, a typical blow-out before took 4 layerings of hair, and 45 minutes of blow-drying using a round, ceramic brush- leaving me with "straight" but puffy, frizzed out hair that needed to be finished with a flat-iron before I could leave the house. My hair is now insanely soft and shiny, as well. Bonus!
TL;DR- it's a pain to apply, takes forever, and smells bad, but you WILL have great results if you follow the instructions and invest the time.
**UPDATE 8.19.17** It's been six months since I applied this product, and it's now completely out of my hair. That said, it stayed in completely for about four months before it started to fade. My stylist was impressed; every time I went for a cut and color, she remarked that my hair was so much easier to work with and style. I'd agree!
After the product "wore off," my hair went back to its usual curl pattern; no damage or permanent changes to hair texture. Over all, I'd still rate this five stars; although the treatment didn't last as long as a professional one may have, you can't beat it for the price. Make sure you use gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. I'll be applying it again in the fall- it's too hot and humid for a day spent with a straightener in the summer!

My hairtype is Curly 3A/3B (pic 1 & 2). To be fair, my hair has not been this curly in a while after years of various treatments and processing.
The first time I did my own keratin, the results were incredible (pic 3). I applied it prior to departing on 1 month long trip through Asia, one where I wouldn't have access to my regular hair products, tools, etc. My hair was smooth, frizz-free, and while not pin straight a perfect, long, wavy (straightening / blowdrying would take 1/4 of the time). As far as I was concerned this product was a godsend. Naturally, I was eager to reapply months later.
The second time, I applied it approximately 4 months later just as I had the first time. This time around, I shed a lot of hair during the treatment. A. LOT. The bathroom floor was covered. Unfortunately, this continued in the coming weeks. Every day, my hair would come out without any effort at all (when I would comb, shower, not do anything at all!) It only took a couple weeks to notice how much volume I had lost! I immediately saw a dermatologist and she said she saw irritation of the scalp, serious hair loss and that she sees this reaction to keratin treatments all the time (usually after the 2nd treatment). The scalp undergoes too much stress, and while the hair follicle is not permanently damaged, the scalp sheds hair for about a month or so. She prescribed topicort (a topical spray) which, from what I understand, was just for the scalp irritation not the hair growth. Unfortunately there is no quick way to get your hair back.
Follow up, after about a month of hair shedding my hair was so thin that I had to chop it to a bob. Even so, it looked flat and unhealthy because I do not have enough hair to make a blunt cut (pic 4). I've been on a strict regimen of overdosing on 'hair, skin, nails' ~ mostly biotin ~ and using conditioning hair masks + henna to thicken my hair. Now, I swear by these natural products. I have seen about 3 inches of growth in 4 months, which looks like frizzy baby hairs forming a halo around my whole head (pic 4). Looking good. I am grateful that my hair is growing back although know that it will not look great again for a couple years. I have come to peace with that.
I wanted to share my story for those who are considering this treatment. PLEASE reconsider. There are great, natural ways to loosen your curl pattern and reduce frizz for instance: henna, cassia obvata, saffron which coat the hair much like Keratin (hennasooq is a great online resource). I will never stray away from these natural alternatives again. I wish I had never done this keratin treatment and would do anything to go back to my natural hair.
Pictures: Pics 1 & 2 are my hair in it's natural, unadulterated state (minus a red dye), pic 3 is after my first successful keratin treatment, and pic 4 is my hair now. Looking totally disheveled, I know. I apologize for the inconsistency photos - wish I had taken proper before and afters, but I figured they may be helpful no less.
Hope this helps!!!
