A tabloid claims Cindy Crawford is refusing to let daughter Kaia Gerber launch a makeup line similar to Kylie Jenner’s. The report is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk the false story.
An article in the latest issue of OK! says Crawford’s daughter, an up-and-coming model, is eager to follow in Jenner’s footsteps and start her own makeup company. The magazine further contends that Crawford won’t allow it, which is causing problems between the mother and daughter. “Cindy feels Kaia’s doing well as it is,” a supposed source tells the outlet. “She keeps telling Kaia she’s too young to start a business” and it would “only bring stress” to the young model’s burgeoning career.
The anonymous insider goes on to say that Gerber is telling friends her mom is just “jealous” of her success. “Cindy is in shock – she thought they’d skip the mother-daughter fallout stage,” adds the seemingly phony source. “Cindy’s friends are encouraging her not to take it to heart, though. One day Kaia will understand that she only had her best interests in mind.”
Gossip Cop checked with Crawford’s rep, who tells us on the record that the tabloid’s story is entirely false. The former supermodel has been nothing but supportive of her daughter’s career thus far, so it doesn’t makes sense that she would shoot down any of her daughter’s ideas or ambitions, including creating a brand for herself. Regardless, the tabloid’s premise isn’t based in reality.
This is far from the first time OK! has been wrong about the famous mother and daughter. Late last year, Gossip Cop bused the tabloid for falsely claiming Crawford was trying to steal the spotlight from her daughter. That false report also quoted an unnamed source who supposedly said, “Kaia’s getting annoyed with the way Cindy hovers over her… She’s always proposing they do magazine shoots together, when she knows Kaia wants her own career.” However, Gerber herself spoked how much she has learned from Crawford in an interview with British Vogue last year.
The tabloid also has a pretty poor track record when it comes to Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber. Last summer, the magazine made the incorrect claim that Crawford and her husband were headed for divorce, a story that Gossip Cop debunked. That report came from an unidentified “insider” who said the couple’s friends were “expecting that they could be divorced by the end of the year.” Nearly 14 months later, the spouses are still going strong, just like their daughter’s career.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
