This week Welsh singer, Duffy, who is best known for her international hit "Mercy" has broken her silence and explained why she left the spotlight. Now fans who have been curious where the singer has been throughout the decade have their answer.
Duffy took to Instagram Tuesday afternoon to shed light on a sensitive subject as well as assured her fans she'll be making her way back.
According to her post, Duffy has been taking to heal and recover from a traumatic event. Duffy states, "The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course, I survived. The recovery took time."
It's a heartbreaking experience no one should have to go through. Despite it all, Duffy has a positive outlook. The singer goes on to say, "in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine."
We admire Duffy's strength and bravery. As do her fans and supporters. Many of whom, took to Twitter to express themselves on the subject.
Duffy asks for respect, privacy and patience as she makes her gentle move forward.
