Brad Pitt is not quitting acting to become a beekeeper, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It’s complete fiction.
In an interview with GQ Australia last week, the movie star called acting “a younger man’s game” and noted that he’s becoming more focused on producing projects. Although Pitt acknowledged he’s been taking fewer on-screen roles, he certainly didn’t say he’s retiring from the big screen. The National Enquirer, however, was inspired to concoct a bogus story about the movie star putting acting aside to take up beekeeping. The magazine’s sister outlet, RadarOnline, also posted the article on its website.
According to the tabloid, Pitt’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio recently introduced him to the hobby, and he’s “gone all in on the craze,” even erecting a series of “bee villas” in the backyard of his Los Angeles home. The unreliable publication further speculate it’s just a matter of time before Pitt stops acting for good and makes beekeeping his primary vocation.
The tabloid’s phony story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Pitt’s spokesperson, who laughed off the premise. Despite what the outlet’s unidentified “insider” claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actor’s behalf confirms he’s not quitting acting to become a beekeeper. Pitt’s spokesperson even jokingly referred to the magazine’s article as a “desperate attempt at ‘buzz.'”
It’s worth noting, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a similar narrative. Last year, we called out RadarOnline for falsely claiming Pitt was quitting Hollywood for a career in art and furniture design. That didn’t happen.
Gossip Cop also busted the Enquirer last year for wrongly reporting that Ben Affleck was quitting Hollywood and moving to a farm in upstate New York. Prior to that, we shot down the publication’s story about Emma Stone quitting acting to become a singer. The same outlet also maintained that Demi Moore was quitting Hollywood to become a yoga teacher, and Renee Zellweger was quitting acting just because she was dissatisfied with the profession.
For whatever reason, the gossip media is fixated on this idea of a movie star leaving Hollywood behind to take up another career. The premise didn’t apply to any of the celebrities mentioned above, and it’s no more accurate in Pitt’s case. There’s a better chance of the actor starring in a movie about a beekeeper than actually becoming one.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
