Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston haven’t rekindled their romance, nor did the two “go public” at last week’s Venice Film Festival. Gossip Cop can debunk the story, which is featured in one of this week’s tabloids. It’s complete fiction.
According to Woman’s Day, Aniston accompanied her ex-husband to Italy last week as he promoted his new movie Ad Astra. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “The festival was buzzing with reports of them being spotted together, from boat trips to dinners and hotel sightings, too. It felt like their way of saying, ‘We don’t care who knows about us anymore.’ They’re happy and done with hiding.”
The magazine’s premise has a lot of holes from the start. Pitt and Aniston weren’t photographed together during the Venice Film Festival. In fact, there’s zero indication the actress was in Italy at all last week. In a weak attempt at explaining why the ex-spouses were never seen together, the supposed source says, “Jen wouldn’t have wanted to eclipse Brad’s promotion of [Ad Astra] or take the limelight away from his co-stars, so walking the red carpet with Brad was out of the question.”
Of course, this doesn’t explain why there are zero photos of the two at any other point during the festival. The anonymous tipster goes on to say that Aniston “made her debut as his partner as she cheered him on in the crowd.” If the actress had been in the audience at the Ad Astra premiere, it’s impossible she wouldn’t have been spotted by anyone. It’s also impossible that Woman’s Day would be the only outlet in the world reporting the news. That doesn’t stop the phony source from adding, “Despite everything they’ve been through, being back with Jen is uncomplicated. They’re both different people now and it’s like a fresh, new romance.”
Considering that Aniston was nowhere near the Venice Film Festival, the level of fabrication here is almost astounding. Separate reps for both the actress and her ex-husband confirm they’re not back together and she didn’t join him in Italy last week. The magazine’s ridiculous story makes very little sense. If the two are “done with hiding” and want to “go public,” why weren’t they seen together in Venice? The simple answer is that Pitt and Aniston didn’t travel to Italy together.
Just last week, Gossip Cop busted New Idea for making up a similar story about Pitt and Aniston being spotted together on a boat in Italy. As for Woman’s Day, this is the same outlet that claimed Pitt and Aniston had secretly gotten married last year. Shortly before that, the unreliable tabloid insisted Aniston was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. You won’t find those phony scenarios mentioned in this latest piece about their imaginary reunion at the Venice Film Festival.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
