Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t trying to top each other at the box office, despite a made-up tabloid report. The estranged spouses aren’t in any type of rivalry when it comes to their movie careers. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim otherwise.
Pitt and Jolie, who separated nearly three years ago, haven’t been able to finalize their divorce as they continue to argue over finances and custody of their six kids. According to Woman’s Day, however, they’re also concerned about battling each other at the box office. “It’s a case of anything you can do, I can do better,” a supposed source tells the outlet.
The alleged insider continues, “Brad’s hit the ground running with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and now Ange has signed up for [Marvel’s The Eternals]. But Brad is already hunting for the next bigger and better project to overshadow her.”
Gossip Cop checked in with sources close to the situation, and we’re assured the magazine’s article is completely fabricated. An individual in Pitt’s camp tells us he’s not choosing projects based on whether he thinks they will be more financially successful than his estranged wife’s films. A mutual pal of ours and Jolie similarly tells us the tabloid’s premise is nonsense.
Pitt and Jolie have plenty on their plate when it comes to the divorce issues that need to be ironed out. The idea that they’re also concerned with one-upping each other at the box office is simply ridiculous. When it comes to their big-screen careers, both stars have been known to choose passions projects and scripts they’re passionate about.
It’s worth noting, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has busted Woman’s Day for making up a story about Jolie using her career for a personal scheme. Back in June, we busted the outlet for falsely claiming the actress wanted Keanu Reeves to join her in The Eternals just so she could date him once they started working together.
Of course, Woman’s Day is the same magazine that’s made up multiple stories about Pitt rekindling a romance with Jennifer Aniston, which hasn’t happened. Just last week, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for falsely contending that Pitt and Aniston were hiding out at his California beach house when they weren’t working.
For even further proof that the publication concocts false reports, Gossip Cop also busted the outlet last year for insisting that Aniston was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. It’s fairly clear at this point that the magazine comes up with fictional narratives. This latest one involving a box office battle between Pitt and Jolie is no different.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
