Angelina Jolie never dated Jared Leto, despite false claims about a relationship between the pair. A year ago, the gossip media tried to link the stars in the wake of her split from Brad Pitt. But time has shown Gossip Cop was right to bust the bogus stories.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September of 2016. In February of 2017, Star published an article alleging she was leaning on Leto amidst the separation. The tabloid alleged the duo always had a “spark between them,” and were now speaking by phone before meeting up for dinner in Los Angeles. “They’ve been seeing each other whenever they can since then,” a so-called “source” was quoted as saying, claiming Jolie was “telling friends” he had a “special way of making her feel good about herself.”
“Jared has helped her cope” during “tough times,” claimed this supposed snitch, “and even brought her out of her funk.” Gossip Cop exclusively learned, however, that Jolie and Leto weren’t hanging out. Nor was she turning to him for support in any way. The narrative was entirely fictional. But HollywoodLife saw fit to do what it so often does: It took the gossip magazine’s report, regurgitated it, and then made-up related phony “exclusives.”
On February 16, 2017, Gossip Cop exposed the fabrications. HollywoodLies, as it’s known, began by embellishing the original claim by alleging Leto and Jolie were “dating.” The site then dragged Pitt into the storyline with a post asserting he “wouldn’t be shocked” if his estranged wife was “hooking up” with the actor-singer. And then the blog manufactured a back-story, claiming that not only did Jolie have a “crush” on Leto for years, but that she and Pitt even “fought” over him “a lot.”
Of course, prior to the Star story, Jolie and Leto had never been linked before. Now HollywoodLies wanted readers to believe they were always connected. On February 17, we busted the online publication for alleging Jolie and Leto secretly dated years ago. According to the concocted claims, they had a “secret fling” and were “friends with benefits,” but Leto “wouldn’t commit.” Then, however, the outlet maintained he was having “regrets about letting her split away.”
But there wasn’t an ounce of merit to the contention Leto and Jolie had a “very casual relationship” back in the day, nor was there a shred of truth to the assertion they were now romantically involved. Jolie and Leto haven’t even been pictured together since 2004. That’s why no reputable publication ever backed up the claims and why the two never went public with any kind of romance in the year since then. In fact, contrary to resuming a purported connection with Leto, it’s been credibly reported that Jolie is not interested in dating at all.
As for the 30 Seconds To Mars front man, months after these fake claims about being in a relationship with Jolie spread, Leto joked about joining Tinder and admitted he was more focused on his career than his personal life. Gossip Cop wishes the gossip media was more focused on facts over fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
